CONNECT - GROW - APPLY - SERVE

CONNECT: At Southside, we feel that it is important to provide an environment for 5th and 6th graders where real relationships can develop.  By providing a relevant and God-focused curriculum, we help preteens to connect their lives with Christ.  Through small groups, hang-out time and special events, we encourage preteens to connect with each other and with their adult leaders.  At Fifty6, preteens learn to accept one another and build each other up.

"Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God." - Romans 15:7

"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up..." - 1 Thessalonians 5:11

GROW: 5th and 6th graders are ready to go deeper with God.  They need opportunities to explore the Bible and personalize their faith.  Each week, preteens dig into God's word and discover truths for themselves.  Through words, drama, art, music, video and other avenues, the kids express what they've learned during their small-group time.  Preteens are also encouraged to "Take 5" minutes every day to spend in personal prayer and Bible study at home.

"Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth and teach me..." - Psalm 25:4-5a

APPLY: Preteens not only need a strong foundation of Biblical knowledge, they also need to know how to apply what they learn.  As a part of each lesson at Fifty6, preteens are challenged to think about how they will apply the Biblical truths to their lives during the week.  We stress the importance of making wise choices that honor God, guarding our hearts and minds, and the importance of purity.

"I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths.  When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble." - Proverbs 4:11-12

"Jesus replied, 'Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it,'" - Luke 11:28

SERVE: We provide opportunities for 5th and 6th graders to serve others in our church and community.  Preteens are also encouraged to honor God by serving neighbors, friends and family members in various ways.

"Serve one another in love." - Galatians 5:13b

"Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." - 1 John 3:18
